Police ID Man Killed In Maryland Crash After Virginia Driver Failed To Yield: Report

Police have identified the elderly man who was killed after his vehicle was struck and went airborne near La Plata, reports WTOP.

George Bernard Thomas Jr., 88, was struck by a Virginia woman in a Chevrolet who failed to yield to oncoming traffic while making a turn at the intersection of Crain Highway and Turkey Hill Road, around 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, the outlet said citing state police.

Thomas' vehicle was pushed over a guardrail on impact and went airborne before finally stopping in a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver who struck him was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
